Good discussion last night; we're starting a series of weeks on making amends - developing the willingness to forgive others AND the willingness to ask others to forgive us. While this isn't fun, it's essential to the freedom we all crave from our different hurts. Personally, I have to work on forgiving MYSELF for the littany of stupid things I've done in my life. That will be my number one challenge.
Met a new friend last night - a man who is REALLY down on his luck right now and struggling...BIG TIME! I was talking with a buddy after class about him, and we talked about how great is is to have people like him come to our group. It does two things: 1)It puts a quick and abrupt end to the pity party we're throwing about our own problems, and 2)It provides an opportunity to reach out the way Jesus would...not by hitting over the head with a Bible, but by taking care of 'simple' things - food, clothes, shelter.
Good group - good people - GREAT God!
