Missional Outreach Network

In November we are reading the book The Yada Yada Prayer Group (that's the pink book) by Neta Jackson. We'll meet at the tables at Tom Thumb at 7:00 PM on Nov. 20 (the third Thursday of the month).

Tom Thumb - 3001 Hardin Blvd., McKinney, TX 75070, is that right?

Hey guys! I am having trouble finding this book. Does anyone have an extra copy?

Kathryn
I think my mom is done with my copy. I will try to get it from her today and bring it to church tomorrow.
Got it. I will bring it to you tomorrow.

Hello ladies! We had our second discussion last night at Tom Thumb and what a great night! We dug into themes from the book that touched us personally and ways that we were convicted to keep improving our own walks with God. I was particularly convicted to do ALOT more praising of God. Praise even before he answers my prayers, praise for who he is, praise for what he can do and praise for what he has done. I've started praising out loud and with joy and even singing when the mood strikes me. Those of you who didn't get to join us last night, I'd love to hear your thoughts and comments on the book. (I've started book 2 because I know it will get better and better!)

During the discussion, we were approached by one lady, because we were in a very open space, about what we were reading. Turns out that she was already in a book talk but was always looking for ideas of what to read. We all chatted briefly, but I am encouraged that God is going to send people our way if we will just ask him to and be open when the situation arises. Also, Laurie and I did a little shopping afterwards, just essentials mind you, and then went to check out. The woman working, named Annette, asked us what we were reading. We answered and then explained what the book was about. She was very friendly. She said "We were listening and it sounded like everyone in the group was really participating and adding to the discussion." AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH . Did you catch that? They were listening and watching us! What a chance to show Godly love to one another and others! I told her that we were going to meet there the 3rd Thurs. of every month and anyone was welcome. She finished ringing us up and then said "Well I'll see you next month." (I didn't go into our actual schedule and not meeting in Dec.) We are on the path ladies. I would like to strongly encourage you to carry Jan. book with you in public and get into discussions. (This present Darkness, by Frank Peretti) People are open to talking about books and if we pray, God WILL send searching people our way.

Just had to share ladies. I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts and comments! Have a great Thanksgiving!

Hey Ladies,
Well, my broken foot and surgery kinda put me behind schedule, so I didn't even buy Yada Yada until last week and I just finished it tonight. i'm still teary from the emotional ending. i identified with Jodi in so many ways (even the crutches! :)). the book was very inspiring. Becki, just like you mentioned, i want to praise God more too! It would also be good to be thrown into a prayer group like that where i could learn to be transparent. I learned a lot from that book.I'll be reading the second one too. The book i bought actually has both books in one! Hopefully i'll be able to make it to the book discussion in January for This Present Darkness. it's really neat that the ladies at Tom Thumb asked you about the book discussion!
Hope y'all had a great Thanksgiving! We did. I'm getting Keith and the kids to get the Christmas tree and decorations up tomorrow. i guess i'll unwrap ornaments and supervise.
See ya!
Deneen
