Young Professionals and College Students

Missional outreach for those that are young. This group is very often overlooked in the church, yet young Christians have great potential, energy and availability. Which makes them one of the best resource groups for missional activities.

Cool deal Garth! I hope the study goes well with the congregation at large. And hope that your personal study with the Young Adults and College students goes well too. I'm looking forward to reading the book and will put the studies to good use there. I hope and pray your holidays went well. God bless.

Thanks for the info on UnChristian. UnChristian is currently the basis for our discussion in the Young Adult and College Student class at High Pointe. We are taking a brief hiatus to participate in a congregration wide study directed by the adult education leadership, but I look forward to completing this study with the singles of our congregation.

Cool stuff. Thank you for that. I'll keep my eyes upon for comments about it and will look the Story of Redemption study. God bless us all as we reach out to younger generations. Thank you James. Grace and Peace.

Zack, I've read the book. It is a very interesting into the perspectives of both Christian and non-Christian young adults. This group will definitely have to be reached in a different way, and they are turned off by many of the methods and attitudes of modernism. Hopefully people like Wes on this site can give us a lot of first hand insight into this group.

You might check out the story of Russell's conversion in the Evangelistic Bible Study group. We used the Story of Redemption in this study, which is written exactly for those whom Kinnamon talks about in his book.

Hello everyone! I hope and pray everyone out there had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Have any of you read a book called UnChristian by David Kinnaman (however his name is spelled)? I just bought it the other day. Just wanted to see what any of y'all thought of the book. Reaching out to college students and young adults, evangelizing them, and involving them in the church are passions of mine. God bless you all this new year! Grace and Peace.

Greetings one and all! My name is Zack Blaisdell. I am from Plano, TX. 32 years old. Harding grad (BA in Bible, 2001). Currently attending Sunset International Bible Institute in Lubbock, TX. My passions are to move to a college town and engage in outreach ministry activities on the local college campus and other communities. Also I hope to be involved in helping the new converts to find their gifts and helping them get involved in the life of the church. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! God bless. Grace and Peace.

Debra brings up the difficulty of any kind of "singles" ministry. Many who are divorced or are older singles don't feel like they fit with this group, while others do. At High Pointe, we have started a divorce care and recovery ministry to help those who have gone through this and to give them a "place" that they feel they belong. But if they feel they fit here, that is great too.

College and Young Professionals sometimes feel a distance too, depending on how long the "professionals" have been out of college. Some feel closer to the young marrieds without kids.

For those who don't feel like it is a great fit for them, perhaps if they want to, they could view this as a ministry for them--helping younger adults find their spiritual path.

Debra, this group needs all the help it can get. We need to make this the best and most inclusive group in church.
