Hi Stanley. Welcome to the Missional Outreach Network! If you go to the "Forum" tab in the menu bar and click on "Getting Started," you will find instructions on introducing yourself and changing your profile. I see that you already got your picture up.

Feel free to join a discussion or group (see "Groups" in the menu bar), invite a friend (see "invite" in menu bar), or start a group or discussion. It's great to have you aboard!

Stanley, my man! I really enjoyed our time together at Quest. So, how are things in Canada? Still cold?
  • James Nored

Stanley, I hear that you are in New Orleans. Mission Alive is doing some church planting in this area. Are you familiar with any of this?
  • James Nored

I see! Well, then it is good to know that. Gailyn seemed encouraged by the possibilities there. I have only been in the city once and do not know it. But I was glad to hear of something positive happening there after Katrina.
  • James Nored

Stan, I like your new picture.

So, what do Canadians do on Thanksgiving? Any substitute holiday?
  • James Nored

    Stan, that's pretty funny.

So do Canadians really believe that the Pilgrims landed first at Nova Scotia? Or is this just part of the joke?

I didn't know that there was another thanksgiving type of holiday in Canada. (Not that I didn't think that Canadians were thankful.) Interesting!
  • James Nored

Say, Stan. What missional topics are of most interest to you?
  • James Nored

Stan, sounds like an interesting list! Say, what is the focus of your spiritual formation D.Min. work? Of course, there is an increasing blend of spiritual formation and mission, with many people being invited into spiritual practices pre-conversion. So this could definitely fit into this site.

Besides interest in your D.Min. work, I am looking for some minimal commitments from people for adding content to this site in the various groups--say one post of varying length a week. We have not come close to really promoting this site, and I think that it will really grow and be a great help and resource. Besides, it's pretty fun!

So, I was wondering if you might be interested in some kind of content creation like this--in one of your missional interests, or, perhaps in Spiritual formation. If you are doing research in this area, you could throw something out each week, maybe create a spiritual formation group. This would save time by drawing on an area you are already working in.

What are your ideas on this?
  • James Nored

Cool! I'll hit you up in a few weeks.
  • James Nored

Stan, one of my fellow D.Min. students is looking for some resources on teaching Spiritual disciplines. Can you join the group "Ministry in the Postmodern Matrix" and take a look at this discussion? Thanks!
  • James Nored

Hi Stan. Glad to see that you joined the Quest group. I'll be interested in hearing your thoughts on this. Jon Harrison had asked me to work on putting some of this together. I see it as being a collaborative process, and I hope that this group can help us drum up some interest and make this meeting something for us to really look forward to.
  • James Nored

Hey Stan. I'm back on now if you want to chat.
  • James Nored

Yes! That would be great. Just go to the groups and create a new group for this. You will need some kind of picture. If you don't have a fitting one, then just add any picture and I can then go and change it out. Then send out invitations to your friends using the "invite" function inside that group. I'll look forward to your thoughts!
  • James Nored

Stanley, I will be praying for you--and looking for you, including close to home!
  • Gailyn Van Rheenen

Stan, greetings in Christ. It is good to have you on this forum. I enjoyed having the group from Regina visiting D-FW church plantings recently. I talked with Kevin some about your future and anticipate talking with you at some point.
  • James Nored

Hey Stanley. You have to add friends one by one. This helps prevent spammers. Sorry about that.
  • James Nored

Hey Stan. I clicked on your article link that you put in the postmodernism group, but nothing came up.
  • James Nored

Hey Stan. How are you? How are things in Louisiana?

I'm going to be doing a Spiritual gifts seminar Nov. 1 & 2 at the Enterprise Blvd. Church of Christ in Lake Charles. Is this anywhere close to you?
  • James Nored

Hey Stan. Christopher James joined your missional spiritual formation group. He is looking at the intersection of spiritual formation and missional theology for Ph.D. work. You guys could give us some interesting dialogue on this. I would like to see this issue explored more fully.
  • Stanley N. Helton

Jim, I would love to converse with Christopher. I'm almost ready to get back to actually giving some input to the missional spiritual formation group. Life has been full with the startup here in Louisiana. Post-Katrina realities linger on in some quarters. Churches have had a hard go of it down here; some still have not recovered--ours is one of those. So thanks for the note.
  • James Nored

Stan, it must still be very challenging post-Katrina. I'm sure that you are a great blessing to the church there. We'll look forward to your insightful posts, Stan. Talk with you soon.
  • Marvin Crowson

Great to link with you. Appreciate your special studies on spiritual formation in college students. I would love to receive reports as you progress with this.
  • James Nored

Stan, I am really sorry that my week filled up and we did not get a chance to talk. What day works well for you next week? Looking forward to chatting with you soon!

We had a great Missional Outreach Seminar this weekend. John Dobbs from West Monroe, LA, whom I think that you know, came out. That good ole LA connection!
  • James Nored

Hey Stan. When would be a good time to talk this week?
  • James Nored

Hey Stan. I'm trying to raise $500 for a table for Genesis Alliance's Benefit Dinner. Genesis Alliance is the #1 group to go to for Latino church planting! In lieu of a MON subscription fee, I'm asking our members to consider donating $10 or more towards this dinner.

Can you help us out with a donation? Click here to read more and donate. I would really appreciate. Thank you!

Hey Stan. It's been awhile. How are you?
