Over the past few months, Genesis Alliance has been working on becoming a non-profit organization, which includes the formation of a board. We have finalized this board with the following members:
-
Jon Mullican, Chairman of the Board, Governance Officer, (Executive Minister at Highland Oaks Church of Christ)
-
James Nored, Vice-Chairman of the Board, (Minister at High Pointe Church of Christ)
-
Ron Carlson, Secretary, (Minister at Duncanville Church of Christ)
-
Joe Walker (Elder at Highland Oaks Church of Christ)
-
Bob Renfro (Elder at High Pointe Church of Christ)
The board formation fulfills a legal requirement and helps assure individuals and churches that there is good stewardship of this ministry. We intentionally filled the board with an elder and a minister from the two original Genesis Alliance, Highland Oaks Church of Christ (Dallas, TX) and High Pointe Church of Christ (McKinney, TX). We presented this board formation to these two churches over the last two weeks, and were so appreciative of their prayers, encouragement, and blessing. Over time this board formation will help this alliance to expand to include more partners and individuals.
Our mission statement that we formulated, in conjunction with Sixto Rivera, our Executive Director, and Mike Eppinette, our Director of Development, is this:
"Genesis Alliance exists to plant new churches that bring Latinos into a saved relationship with Jesus Christ in Christian community, at a cost that demonstrates effective stewardship of the resources God provides."There are several things to note about this charge:
- GA exists to plant new churches. Church revitalization is a noble goal and is much needed. However, this is not the primary mission of GA (though some of this may happen along the way, and we pray that it does.)
- Latinos - There are Latinos that are 1st and 2nd generation. This is not specified, not is this limited by geography.
- Saved relationship with Jesus Christ - We want churches that create new Christians, not just churches made up of those who have come from other churches.
- In Christian Community - This emphasizes the communal nature of the gospel. We are not just baptizing lone Christians, but seeking to bring these Christians together in community.
- Effective stewardship of the resources God provides - This is formal board type language. Basically, it is saying that GA will seek to be financially responsible, but could also indicate that we will seek to maximize all of the opportunities, people, prayer, and spiritual resources that God has given us.
We place full faith and confidence in Sixto Rivera, our Executive Director, in executing the charge and daily work of Genesis Alliance. We are also blessed to have Mike Eppinette, our Director of Development, working alongside him and helping to develop a broad base of support for this ministry. Together they make a powerful team.
Thank you so much for your prayer and support! If you would like to know more about GA, or donate, you can make comments here, or see the
