Today there is a growing interest in Spiritual gifts discovery, for personal spiritual development, church ministry, and as means to helping the church fulfill its mission. This new Spiritual gifts seminar, given by James Nored, seeks to respond to this growing interest and need.

The content of the Spiritual gifts seminar is born out of biblical study, local ministry insights, and over two years of doctoral research on Spiritual gifts. Some of this material can be found in the work Using Your Spiritual Gifts.

Spiritual Gifts Seminar Schedule

Friday, January 14
6:00-6:30 PM – Light Refreshments

Session1 - 6:30-7:15 PM: A Biblical Theology of Spiritual Gifts
Looks at biblical passages on Spiritual gifts, seeking to discover what Spiritual gifts are, their theological basis, and their importance to the church and its mission.
7:15-7:30 PM - Breakout session (or fill out Spiritual gifts Inventory)

Session 2 - 7:30-8:15 PM: Spiritual Gifts from Ephesians 4
Looks at the foundational gifts or essential functions of the church found in Ephesians 4:11 - “apostolic”/missional leadership, “prophetic” ministry, evangelism, pastoral care/shepherding, and teaching.

8:15-8:30 PM – Breakout Session (or fill out Spiritual gifts Inventory, Prayer)

Session 3 – 8:30-9:15 PM - Spiritual Gifts from 1 Corinthians 12
Looks at Spiritual gifts of wisdom, knowledge, faith, discernment, helping, and administration.

9:15-9:30 PM – Breakout Session (or fill out Spiritual gifts Inventory, Prayer)

Saturday, April 10

Session 4 - 9:00 - 9:45 PM - Spiritual Gifts from Romans 12, 1 Peter 4
Looks at serving, encouraging, giving, leadership, mercy, prayer, hospitality. speaking.

Break Out Session (9:45-10:00 AM) - Discuss & Apply One’s Spiritual Gifts
Discuss and apply the results of one’s Spiritual gifts inventory in small group discussion format with other seminar participants.

Session 5 (10:00-10:45) Strengths, Spiritual Gifts and Team-Based Ministry
Looks at research on how Spiritual gifts discovery can impact the spiritual and evangelistic growth of the church and help people serve God and others in all aspects of their lives. Also shows how to promote Spiritual gifts and recruit people for Spiritual gifts discovery in the local church. See testimonials!

Looks at the acclaimed Strengths Finder tool (www.strengthsfinder.com), which helps people discover their top 5 Strengths (which are talents + experience). Examines the relationship between Strengths and Spiritual gifts and how to put together ministry teams based upon these tools.

Session 6 (11:00-11:40) Strengths and Spiritual Gifts Assessments
Shows how to do a Strengths and Spiritual Gifts assessment with those who have taken these inventories. An essential process in helping people understand, apply, and maximize their Strengths and Spiritual gifts.
