Mission Shaped Church.pdf - This is a missions report that Eddie Gibbs, author of ChurcNext and co-author of Emerging Churches, pointed me towards. It gives an analysis and prediction of different forms of church, both old and new, for the future.

If we believe that the church of Christ is the only church God wants to save the world through. We should plant it every where in the world, that everyone can be saved. Let's do all we can to spread His word. In Africa we have countries without the church of Christ like DRC Congo and many othermore. Yes I believe that is the work of Africans to see to it that there is church of Christ in those countries but we are seated and not do anything about it. I believe that is time for us to stand up, join hands and make show that His word is spread all over. We should stop planting churches close to each other and focus in the area where there is no churches of Christ.

If anyone knows of a congregation that might be interested in supporting missional church planting in the south Fort Worth area, please let me know. We are in serious need of partners from established churches. Check out www.christjourneylife.com for information about Christ Journey.

Hey church planting group. Check out the discussion on Christology, Missiology, and Ecclessiology over in the Scripture and the people of God group. Features in interesting interview of Frank Viola with church planter David Fitch.

Kerry, is St. Charles a planned community? If I am correct in my memory, this sounded like a great place to build relationships and plant a church. I am thrilled to hear that you are reaching people that were not reached before. This is the great benefit of church planting.

As to your question about space, you know your context best, but I'll throw out some ideas
1. What about planting another church?
2. Could you have some groups that meet in homes on Sunday, freeing up some space, and then rent out a larger place once a month to have a larger gathering?
3. Is there someone up and coming in leadership who might be able to lead a third service?

Just some thoughts. We'll look forward to hearing your journey!

Church planting is amazing. I grew up going to a church that was planted by my father and his best friend in Alton, IL. In 2004 we moved to Missouri on planted a new church in St. Charles County. We started with about 35 of us and we are now running about 300. The great thing is that we are reaching segments of the population many churches would kill to reach. We are reaching so many young unchurched people and it is very exciting. Things have been going really well but we hav run in to a couple of problems...maybe you all can offer some suggestions.

We are growing like crazy and are completely full in our renovated office/ warehouse space. The problem is that we live in an expensive area and we are reaching young students like crazy. Of our nearly 300 on Sundays 80 are college students, 30 or more are high school and several junior high students. The rest of our members are people who have just become christians and they are young overextended families. We are growing but students do not bring in the money necessary to expand or move to a larger facility. We already have two services. Any suggestions?

Steve, awesome story! And now a church plant in Haiti. This is really incredible. I hope that you will share regularly here about your experiences. I know that you are teaching the baptism class at Restore. I'd be interested to know how you approach this.

Check out the "Start Discussion" link above.

I have been blessed to have witnessed first hand almost all of my life the eternal impact church planting has had in the lives of individuals, families, neighborhoods and the world. My dad has been a church planter for 40+ years, I grew up in new churches and have served in and along side new churches most all of my life - it has been an incredible adventure! I am currently involved in a new church here in Kansas City, MO that was started in March 2008 (www.restorecc.org), we've seen around 30 baptisms, 100's of people serving and reaching out in our community, averaging 500+ every weekend and next Sunday (11/16/08) we are receiving an offering of $50k to birth a new church in Haiti. Somebody try and tell me this isn't fun!!
