Should Christians Couples Have Wild, Amazing Sex?

Okay, I know I got your attention with that blog title! It has a purpose.

 

A New York Times blogger picked up Jonathan Acuff's recent article, in which he said that Christians talk about lust and abstinence, but fail to extoll the great sex that can happen in a Christian relationship. The NY Times blog post is called, "How Christians Spoil Sex."

 

Check out this passage from Song of Solomon 2:3f

 ³ Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest
       is my lover among the young men.
       I delight to sit in his shade,
       and his fruit is sweet to my taste.

 ⁴ He has taken me to the banquet hall,
       and his banner over me is love.

 ⁵ Strengthen me with raisins,
       refresh me with apples,
       for I am faint with love.

 ⁶ His left arm is under my head,
       and his right arm embraces me.

 

My kids have a children's song with a bouncy tune that says, "His Banner Over Me Is Love." Talk about taking this out of context. Use your imagination--it doesn't take much to understand what this is talking about. And this is tame for this book.

 

The old joke is about the Junior High kid who starts reading a passage from Song of Solomon, and the dad says, "Where did you get this stuff?"

 

So, what do you think? Should the wildest, most amazing sex happen in a Christian marriage? Do Christians think or give off the appearance of thinking that sex is good or dirty/wrong? If the latter, what should be the corrective?

Simply stated, yes, I believe that Christians have the opportunity to have the most amazing sex of all. We have get passed the idea that "sex is wrong" and focus on what is right and wondeful about it. In the context of marriage, the God intended it, sex can be extremely passionate and spiritual. Afterall, it is from God.

Boundaries in Social Media sounds like a great post, actually. What is going to happen to these kids with all of these inappropriate posts on the Internet when they go for job interviews, apply for scholarships, and the like? The Internet is a pretty permanent record.

They say that when Millennials move into management their be a lot more forgiving of their peers. But until then, Boomers and Gen Xers probably aren't going to be.

Now, back to Song of Solomon for my bedtime reading . . .
