Food for the Holidays

Thanksgiving food bags were well received by the community. Our members brought food for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and Market Street provided coupons for a free turkey. We gave away a total of 85 bags of groceries, with 25 of those going to Vega Elementary School. Our members do an awesome job of responding to whatever the need may be. But the highlight of the day was Mrs. Owens' 3rd grade class at NTCA who assisted us in handing out the bags with big smiles on their faces. One student, when asked how it made her feel, said that it felt like her heart was going to burst. Another said it made her feel really sad when all the bags were gone and there were still people waiting in line. What an experience for these children to be part of serving the hungry and to realize that even at their age they can serve others.
