Salesman from community gives part of his tithe to food pantry

Here is a note from Linda Hardin on High Pointe's food pantry outreach.

"This week, God blessed us with two monetary contributions for our Food Pantry. We would like to acknowledge and thank the 39ers for their generous contribution. They continue to show their leadership in our church by their example.

Also, we were greatly blessed by a salesman who frequents our church office. He came in on Wednesday when we were handing out groceries and was touched when he saw the people standing in line. He said he and his wife had been discussing what they could do to help the needy and he wanted to make a contribution. He wrote a personal check in the amount of $250. We’re so thankful that God continues to bless our efforts in this ministry."

I was there in the office to witness this man giving to us in this way. I was touched by this this.

THis also made me think of the practice that many outreach-oriented churches and new church plants have of asking non-Christians and people from the community to contribute to good works and causes like this, even before conversion. What do you think of this practice?
