Here is a great story about an organization that provides business clothing for homeless women. Read the story here. It is interesting how the organizers have to reject 75% of the clothes that they receive because they do not meet business clothing standards.

I was reminded by this of one woman who came to the clothes closet at High Pointe who was fleeing an abusive situation. She was able to find a complete business wardrobe to help her go out and find a job. She was so appreciative. (Those who are in this ministry at High Pointe--do you remember this ladies' name? I want to look her up and check on her.)

People often think that the homeless just need castoffs. But donating high quality clothes can help them get back on their feet by helping them in a job interview.

Should we encourage people to give more high quality clothes?

The woman I mention above was from High Pointe's clothes closet. (I originally wrote "Liberty," but I've corrected it.)

Maybe we can move towards a more staffed position as this ministry develops, which might open up some additional opportunities. Obviously, it is good to help people who are trying to help themselves and get jobs. Might be something for us to talk and think about how to accomplish.
High Pointe members do donate high quality clothing! People who come in looking for business attire do find it at our Clothes Closet. We don't have many people looking for those kinds of clothes on our open days, most of the people who come in looking for that type of clothing are coming in during the week, and if I or someone else happen to be there, they just luck out! We help a lot of people on our open days, but as we discussed before, all of the really good uplifting stories are happening on days the Closet is not open, and I or someone else has just happen to be there working, and are able to help.
** Also, you know my feelings about the open hours of the clothes closet, and staffing this postion, per my proposal. :) :) :)

** Just a note.....The organization in Collin County called Hope's Door, they also reject most of what is donated to them, because its not high scale enough. But they sell their donated business attire for profit. So they operate differently. Which is why we don't donate the Clothes Closet business attire to them.
Dalana, what do you think about staffing this one day a week during the week, with volunteer hours on the weekend? You know, if we could find the right person! :)
