As I detailed in a recent post, our church has adopted a local elementary school. While the children in schools are often adopted, the teachers often are left out. So our church decided to help the teachers--who are underpaid and understaffed--in many ways, including providing them school supplies.
After the church delivered a ton of school supplies and other items needed/requested by the teachers, we received this note of thanks from one of the teachers:
I cannot tell you how overwhelmed we are at Cannon Elementary with the generosity that your church family has shown to us! It was like Christmas at our school yesterday when you delivered the 'goodies' to us! As teachers, we usually spend quite a bit of our own money on supplies that are not covered by the school or brought by the children. So, your gifts were an enormous blessing for us! Thank you also for your prayers for the school year and the children we serve. We need them every day.
Thank you again!
Many thanks and blessings in return,
A 2nd grade teacher@ Cannon Elementary
What a wonderful response! It is so great to bless people in Christ's name. Now this school looks upon us with joy as they see us--a people offering help, hope, and love. And out of developing these relationships with the teachers, who knows how God may bless this and touch their lives?
What do you think of churches adopting schools? What do you think of this teachers' response?
