7 Ways the Spirit Leads from the Book of Acts

This morning’s worship message and theme is “renewed and revived by the Spirit.” One book where the Spirit’s role n our lives is emphasized is the book of Acts. Below are seven different ways the Spirit leads us from this book.

1. The Spirit Helps Us “Translate” the Gospel in an Understandable way.
   4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them . . . 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language (2:4,6)
   
   
2. The Spirit Gives us Courage to Share the Gospel.
   31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly (4:31).
   
   
3. The Spirit Gives Us Direction for Mission.
   29 The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it” (8:29).
   
   
4. The Spirit Touches the Hearts of Those with whom we Share the Message.
   14 One of those listening was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message (16:14).
   
   
5. The Spirit Gives Us Joy through Trials.
   52 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit (13:52).
   
   
6. The Spirit Helps us Make Tough Decisions.
   28 It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: 29 You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things (15:28-29).
   
   
7. The Spirit May Lead Us Into Challenging Situation--but Provides Warning and Guidance.
   22 “And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. 23 I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me (20:22-23).
