Church announcements are often ignored and easily forgotten. Here is a great example from Saddleback church on how to do announcements--on video! It is clear, adds music, interesting "b-roll" video, pictures, website addresses (including a visual how-to), and more. Great for this video and visual age--and it can be passed on virally to Facebook, etc.
Younger generations are so used to videos and video clips (in fact, many only watch "TV" through video clips) that video can instantly get their attention--and I think often they prefer this over a live speaker. It definitely is the communication medium for today.
