Following Christ and Keeping His Commandments

In John, Jesus repeatedly says, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments." And what are Jesus' commandments? They actually are few. Mainly, they are to love God, love one another, and love our neighbor as ourselves. And obedience is God's love language--the way that we demonstrate our love for him.

Great point, Cal. I make this very point in the sermon. God gives us his Spirit to help us obey. We cannot do it on our own.

We need the Spirit to overcome our flesh or we can't love.  Obedence requires dying to self.
