Do you want to set aside time to seek God's will for 2011? Do you want your life and your family to become more effective and focused for God's Kingdom . . . and for ETERNITY?
Hello everyone here on MISSIONAL OUTREACH NETWORK!!!I'd like to share a journaling tool that has helped ME in utilizing the week between Christmas and New Year's for more effective focus and vision.
Growing up, my dad was a high school teacher who worked especially with seniors in their future life goals. Every year, he would always have me and my siblings write out our goals for the new year -- in every area: spiritually, financially, eduationally, physically -- and we had to be specific. I've since heard that effective goals need to be SMART -- specific, measurable, attainable, reachable, and timely. I'll never forget the year my dad shared with us that he had a goal to take all of us kids to Disneyland for the first time by the conclusion of the year: my little brothers and sister and I got his commitment in writing -- signed and witnesses by all of us. And yes, by the summer, we went.
Since then, I've always used the end of the year as a time for reflection and evaluation. During the "down time" at the end of December, I like to seek God for what worked, and for where He would have for me to go, or what He would have for me to change. It's more than merely making a resolution. It's a time to re-evaluate where I'm at, with what God has for the future.
For most people, New Year's resolutions are practically forgotten by February; what I encourage instead, is to earnestly pray and seek God for His specific plans and purposes for your LIFE.
Get focused on God's eternal mission long-term vision (including His Great Commandment to LOVE GOD and to LOVE OTHERS and His Great Commission to preach the Gospel to the lost). And no matter what "job" you do for a living, may you and your family become an effective part of expanding God's Kingdom, in your own sphere of influence, and across the world.

Also, here's my favorite 1-year Bible Plan from www.Bible-reading.com; and if you're a MOM, add this "Super-Mom vs. Abiding Mom" chart from Confessions of Homeschooler. I'd like to share a tool that could help you (or others you mentor)

Greg, Thanks for taking a look at this New Year's PRAYER GUIDE. It's a tool I've been tweeking and updating over the years, to help individuals and families to become more focused and effective, with a heart for the LORD and missions. Sometimes we don't feel like we have enough time, but if God has called us to do something -- especially, if He's calling us to do something new or extra, He will help us to filter out the busyness of our lives to become more strategic. There's ALWAYS time each day to do EVERYTHING God has called us to do, not with striving, but as we abide in Him.
& to both you and James (& anyone else who might see this . . . ) I'd appreciate any feedback.
You're welcome.
The guide is simply a journaling tool, with questions for prayer, evaluation, reflection and projection -- to seek God for increased fruitfulness and effectiveness, with a focus on MISSIONS and His purposes.
