TEXT: 1 PETER 3 - 4
INTRODUCTION: (A) blessed be the God and Father of our lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abandant mercy hath begotton us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus christ from the dead.
To an inheritance incorruptible and undiefiled, and that fadeth not away.Reserved in heaven for you.
A living hope-Reserve not on the earth. Joh 14: 1 – 8
Where we will never die Joh 11: 26 -26
As enduring as the Gospel
(B) What we see is not hope
(i)HOPE: Inspires us to a higher plan of living
(ii) HONESTY:Entire character, etc.
(iii)An anchor for our soul Heb. 6 : 19
(C)Elements of hope
(i) Forecast – Hope is dependant on promise
1 - what we hope for is yet future
2 – Promise is conditional
(ii)Expectation –this implies fath and Etc.
1 –fath is part of hope – Heb 11 : 1
2-can not expect if we fail tomeet condition of promise.
(iii)Desire-nothing can be obtained without desire.
Hunger matt 4 : 4
God will not save anyone who has not desire to be saved Rom 8 : 24
(D) what produces hope ?
(i) we have already noted that hope is dependent on promise, this then, is what produces Joh 14: 1 – 8 Heb 11 : 10
(ii) By the Gospel –col 1: 23 Rom 15:4 1cor 15 : 1-3
(iii)Assurance-Arts 17 : 30-31
(iv)fath leads to obidience –Gal 5:4 steadfastness rom 5:4
(v)hope is produced by promise, the promise come to us through the Gospel which is the death, burial and resurrection of christ matt 28: 8-15
(E) some denominational hope
(1) wiliam miller the great man of seventh day Adventism church, pastor William miller was succeded by ellen G white .hope that study of Daniel the Lord would come to earth in 1843 or 1844 but that hope was wrong
The two hope of Jahovah Witnesses?
(1)144000 will be with Jesus in heaven Rev 14:1-13
(2) the meek inherit the earth matt 6:5, they are wrong Jahovah Witnesses -2 Joh 1:9-10
(3)premillenialism hope,Jesus return so many times. Is wrong.
(f)the hope of reward of the Gospel-Heb 11:10
(i) we only have eternal life in promise therefore we hope for it titus 2:1 Heb 6:18-20
(ii)our elernal home build by God . 14:1-8
(iii)the scripture teaches that all Gods chiildren should be able to answer questions concerning our hope which is in christ 1 pet 3:15
conclusion – our hope is priceless – we see it revealed in its fullness when our Lord come again titus 2:13 Heb 10 23
This hope erases fear of death-cor 15:54-58 thus hope enables us to approach death with dignity and confidence. Death is a natural step, we die, than we may truly live.
