As a new minister to small groups, I was wanting to know what reading material would best help me get acquainted.

Hi Tanner-- I just saw a video today on small groups (they call theirs life groups) that was interesting. This church is extremely organized with their small groups and is very successful. I think this video they made to encourage members is a great example of why it is working. Here's the link:

Besides the video they have their ideas very well documented on their site which is great for ideas. They obviously have someone who does an incredible job with their small groups. Although it is not a book of everything you may ever want to know about small groups, it is an example of someone who has done their homework. --Rebecca
I suppose it has to do with your goals for the groups. I Just received "Twelve Questions About Evangelistic Small Groups" by Dan Williams in email ... thought it was very practical. Is he on MON? I've requested his permission to post that here. As for books / materials ... John Ellas' Choices for Churches of Christ is good for the philosophy of small groups. As for lessons themselves, I think Dan Williams' are as good as anyone's. I've also enjoyed using Seredipity House materials (if you have the time to get through each lesson ... about 2 hours) ... and IVP's small group studies are well done.

Maybe that'll start the conversation!

John: Can you send that list to me? I'd also like to secure permission to post that on
