About Josh

I am a licensed marital and family therapist (LMFT) in Oklahoma. I have a private practice in NW OKC where I provide therapeutic services for individuals, couples, and families. Although my strongest strengths lie in the areas of communication & conflict resolution, rebuilding relationships after infidelity, parenting & parent-child relational issues, and overcoming pornography addiction, my expertise cover a wide-array of personal and relational issues.

In addition to my private practice, I also serve as the college minister at the Wilshire Church of Christ in OKC. I thoroughly enjoyed my college years at Oklahoma Christian University (OC), so working with this group brings back lots of pleasant memories. My goal is to encourage and nourish their Spirit as they carve out for themselves a place as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I have been happily married since Dec. 2000 to my lovely wife, Amanda. We met and married while working on our undergraduate degrees at OC. We left there to move to Stillwater to work on our graduate degrees at Oklahoma State University. I obtained a Master's degree in Marriage & Family Therapy; and Amanda received her Ph.D. in Chemistry. She is currently a chemistry professor at OC. We live in the OKC metro area with our sons, Casen and Liam.

Someone once said to me that your family should be your first ministry. I truly believe that to be effective "out in the field," we've got to be taking care of things at home. Hal Runkel, in his book ScreamFree Parenting, states that we must learn to put on our own oxygen masks first, because if we can't breathe, we can't help anybody. Therefore, my prayer is that each and everyone of us learn to take care of ourselves and our families so that we can be effective stewards of the Word. I hope this group will be yet another resource to help you do just that.

You can learn more about me and what's on my mind through my website and my blog.

RE: Divorce in Small Group: I agree with most his points on the matter.  Small groups offer the opportunity to get connected on a much deeper level.  We need to make sure that we don't allow an issue like this to keep that from happening.  We need to have understanding/empathy and lots of prayer.
