preaching the Gospel is as a worship .we need prayers that the Lord would open as the door to preach the gospel to the world as we worship by preaching. ¶ And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.
And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.
¶ Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.
Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.
And there was great joy in that city. Acts 8:1-9

Bob, I know of one preacher who writes every demographic group on a white board for his sermon prep, and then he tries to make sure that he says something in his sermon that speaks to each group. Sounds like a good approach.

James' observation about multi-movement worship is right on--in our ADHD society and multi-media and sound bites, we have to have "movement". That can occur with different activities, and also in some creative ways within the sermon process.
I have returned to a sermon grid to outline which focuses on the who--what groups may be present and what will be said to them specifically. Thus the sermon preparation is not only the typical process which is content focused, but is also hearer-focused.

Well, it was either The Convergent Church: Missional Worshipers in an Emerging Culture or the latest Gossip Girls book. A tough choice. :)

I like it James! (And you need to rethink the term 'recreational reading') lol

This should be a great group! John,it just struck me - I'm wondering if you might want to make this a Missional Preaching & Worship group, which might hit a couple of your passions, or just stick with the preaching focus. We don't have a worship group on here. I say this as I'm about to do my recreational reading over Spring Break, which includes The Convergent Church: Missional Worshipers in an Emerging Culture.

Either way, this will be a great resource and encouragement for us preachers! Looking forward to your posts and our discussions here.
