If you have time tomorrow afternoon or Wednesday we can visit and see what might be possible. Let me know if you are available and I can swing by.

James,
ACU is hosting on Feb26-27 a mobile learning summit in Abilene called connectEd Summit. They have some of the worlds brightest coming to talk and educate institutions on today's mobile learning advances. They have brains from Harvard, Vanderbilt, AT&T, and ACU talking on different issues. The registration is $250 and the link is: http://www.acu.edu/technology/mobilelearning/connectedsummit/index.html This might be worth attending.

Greg,

Regarding your questions:

1) I am not sure about how you would do that but I suspect the camera has an "IEEE 1394 firewire" connection that can be used to download the file from the camera to a PC with IEEE capability. Most newer PC's and laptops have those but you can by a firewire card for desktop PC for around $20. We purchased 2 for PC's at the church. As for embedding the video in PP that should work no matter what the aspect is.
2) There are free products available but I just purchased a product called Rip Tiger for HighPointe that sits in the background on a PC and captures and video you look at on the web. It saves it to a flash video (.FLV) format. It does allow you to convert it to other formats. I paid $50 for the ultimate version.

Hope this helps..

I hate it when I make so many typos! It's "May" and "ratio" and who knows what else needs to be corrected. I'm also not great at finding my own errors :)

Greetings. I have a couple of technology questions for ANYONE who could answer:
1. I have a Hitachi hdd/dvd hybrid camcorder. I recorded my son adressing what I hope will be :) the class I teach at Pepperdine this may. I am trying to figure out how, specifically, to get the file from the hard drive of the camcorder, into a powerpoint slide. It was recorded in a 16:9 aspect ration, which may be part of the problem. Does anyone know how to do this?

2. How do you capture video off of youtube, Godtube, or other internet site, again to embed into a ppt. presentation? Is there software involved...and if so, is it available as a free download? Thanks for the help!

James, spring training starts in about a week. Brad is on the initial 45 man roster for the World Baseball Classic...so we'll see how that goes.

Blessings!

I will see if I can get her on here and perhaps begin a discussion of SEO for the church context

Justin, we do need to help churches with this! I'm doing some research on this, and anything we can share here would be great.

My wife works for a small web design company and she has teaching me about SEO (search engine optimization) for websites. This is typically used by corporations or companies trying to market their products, but she is now beginnning to work with the tech crew at church to help drive relevant traffic to the church's site. Something to consider for our sites, blogs and other web presence.
