I don't think there is a lack of tools. Skype, Multiply, Facebook, etc, etc...there is an overwhelming number of social networking tools out there. The problem I face is the face to face accountability. It is much easier to blow off a conference call at 6:00AM than it is to blow off a Chick Fil A meeting where people are waiting for you.

It is just a personal problem with me, as accountability is a bit more difficult, in my opinion, through technology, than it is in a face to face meeting such as a Bible study in house.

It all sounds good in theory for me, however, in practive, the eDiscipleship didn't go over too well (and I'm a HUGE fan of technology). This isn't to say it won't work for me, it just is stating the fact that the tools, for me, aren't the issue, its the personal attachment that seems to lack when utilizing the Internet for such things.

Aaron, what kind of discipleship tools/groups do you think would be good?

This should be an interesting group, as a mentor of mine moved to China last year. We've been keeping in some contact with Skype, however, our eDiscipleship hasn't been nearly as strong as it was in person. Accountability dwindles with the additional miles.

Remember the time change was last week. I hope we both get some sleep soon. Have a great Lord's Day and bless the saints in McKinney!

Mike, I am excited about the possibilities!

I definitely will James. We have 150 speakers who represent 49 languages. You can see how powerful this could be if placed on the internet.

Mike, that is great! I hope that you will encourage them to join this group and share some ideas. We have a ton of IT people, computer engineers, and programmers at High Pointe (as I'm sure other churches do) who have a ton of technical competence. We need to solicit their help.

World Radio is brainstorming and will meet Nov. 11 with some tech folks about some exciting possibilities. I will talk about them more after Tuesday. I am glad to be a part of this group.

To all:
There are some great ideas being exchanged here. No.... I don't currently have teens, but have been dealing with college age for years. Rebecca what you said about learning when you write --in this case blog-- is so true. I started his years ago with email at the university. But, here in NZ the students (some barely out of the teens) are required to do a structured discussion blog. The learning is great. They like it so much they are petitioning the Dean to do his classes this way. ( you can view their comments at www.postmodernevangelism.blogspot.com). I think the moderator is necessary and some site for anonomous comments is probably a good idea.
