James and I were talking Monday evening and, the subject of personal BELIEF in what the Word is telling us was one of the many things we discussed briefly. We all have BELIEF in what the
Word is telling us as individuals or, chances are, we would not be interested in the Missional Outreach Network.
Without BELIEF there is no "hope" for a rewarding eternity, as I see it. Therefore, my question is this..."How do we know our individual BELIEF is based on solid ground"? Is the BELIEF we take ownership of in our individual life different from others? If so, how does our own BELIEF stack up to other BELIEFS. If an individual's BELIEF is right on, how can so many other BELIEFS that do not mirror your own BELIEF, be right? Are contridictory BELIEFS to our own BELIEF doomed? Let's say an opposing BELIEF belongs to a Billy Graham, the Pope, Max Lucado or, our friend, James Nored. How can so many intelligent people that don't share your BELIEF be wrong? Can we all share the same eternity in Heaven?

Yes, there are certainly different beliefs out there. And the James Nored of 2010 would disagree mightily with the James Nored of, say, 1998, when I first entered into full time ministry.
We need to recognize that our human reasoning and thinking is limited and tainted by sin. This can cause us to be humble, forgiving, and rely upon God's grace.
The question then becomes, what beliefs are at the core of the Christian faith? What is not at the core?
